OUR TEAM

Tony Didlo

It is with great appreciation to the Lord that I began as chaplain of the Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility last September 2022.

I wanted to be sure to forward you a brief note of introduction and enlist your friendship, prayer support, and partnership with our ministry.

A little about myself—I have been a part of various ministries in the Des Moines metro area for over 20 years.  I spent 14 years as a chaplain assistant with the Polk County Jail Ministry and spent eight years with Freedom for Youth.  I was pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Altoona for 3 years.  In 2019 I was a part of the Will Graham Crusade.

My heart is for evangelism and discipleship and look forward to seeing inmates impacted by the Gospel and their lives changed.

The ministry at the Fort reaches out to men who have completed sentences and are slowly adjusting back to civilian life.  It is an opportune time to introduce them to Jesus Christ and begin discipling them to live for him with their new found freedom.

I am looking forward to a joyous and fruitful ministry in the coming years. I hope we can connect personally in the future so I can acquaint you with the CrossRoads Ministries and in partnering with us to reach men for Christ.

Shonna Swain

Hi, my name is Shonna Swain and I am the Assistant Chaplain for CrossRoad Ministries, ministering to the ladies at the Fresh Start Women’s Center. I began working in this ministry in November of 2015. My background includes working in criminal/victim justice for over 35 years.

In 1995, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior after contemplating Romans 10:13, which was posted in the first church I ever faithfully attended. I kept waiting to hear what else I had to do, other than “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” It took me two months to realize that there was nothing I could do to earn it, except trust Him to save me from the penalty of my sins.

It is a privilege to minister to these ladies at the facility and beyond. I encourage you to support this “open door” ministry that God has given us; only through Christ can the ladies truly be changed and walk anew.
